ICT4peace Foundation is honoured to have been invited to participate in the 3rd Digital Defence Symposium (DDS) in Singapore, to tackle pressing questions from rising cyber threats to the implications of emerging technologies.

Interesting, but difficult questions, like how could civil-military cooperation could look like when countering Mis-, Disinformation and Hate-Speech or when using whole-of-government or whole-of-society approaches when mitigating Information Operations (IO), were debated.

The Symposium was co-hosted by the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Cybersecurity and Information Centre of Excellence (ACICE) and the prestigious and well known S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies of Singapore (https://rsis.edu.sg/).

“The ADMM Cybersecurity and Information Centre of Excellence (ACICE) was conceptualised as a result of the unique threats posited by cybersecurity, disinformation and misinformation to defence establishments….The establishment of ACICE was approved by the 15th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) in Jun 2021; while its Terms of Reference was approved by the 16th ADMM in Jun 2022.” (https://lnkd.in/gy9kUX2B).

It was nice to meet again old colleagues from RSIS Benjamin Ang Adrian Tan Eugene EG Tan (fond memories of inter alia the RSIS workshop on confidence building and future of internet governance in 2014:(https://lnkd.in/gv6iKJMQ) and new ones from ACICE Janie Leong Joel Chang and last but not least Minister Karsten Geier of HD and Prof. 徐培喜 Xu Peixi (photo).
