The ICT4Peace Foundation partners with the Human Rights Film Festival and presents the renowed and very important documentary “The Cleaners”:
When you post something on the web, can you be sure it stays there? Enter a hidden shadow industry of digital cleaning where the Internet rids itself of what it doesn’t like – violence, pornography and – political content. Who is controlling what we see and what we think?
The screening takes place on Saturday, 8 December at 20.30 at KOSMOS in Zurich.
The screening will be followed by a talk with Serge Droz, Senior Advisor ICT4Peace Foundation, about the work of “Content Moderators” who filter internet spam.
Social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram must prevent their users from being forcefully confronted with images that show beheading, staged suicide, child pornography, calls for violence as well as other hate actions.
