The ICT4Peace Five Days Online Certificate Course on International Cyber Diplomacy, Law and Norms for Government Officials from Southern African States successfully completed.
ICT4Peace has since 2014 been offering over 30 cybersecurity certificate courses with the goal to build capacity in the field of cybersecurity policy and diplomacy of government officials from all regions in the world. These courses were developed and held in cooperation with OAS, OECE, ASEAN, OAU, East African Countries.
This new Course for Southern African Countries was was held from 22 to 26 November 2021.
The objective of the program is to enable participants to engage meaningfully and effectively in international cybersecurity discussions, particularly within the United Nations’ First Committee but also outside the United Nations.
The proposed certificate program provided participants with an overview of the normative framework of responsible state behavior promulgated by the UN, coupled with a more detailed analysis of specific issue areas, including those relevant to the Southern African region and the African Continent. The course will contribute to a better understanding of the controversies that dominate the current international dialogue on cybersecurity.
The target audience are public officials of ministries with an interest to participate in the dialogue on international rules and norms of cybersecurity at the UN and elsewhere.
Course Director was Anne-Marie Buzatu from ICT4Peace, and lecturers included Ms. Moliehi Makumane, Advisor to the Chair of the UN OEWG and Dr. Przemek Roguski.
