The ICT4Peace Foundation participated in the Mashable & 92Y Social Good Summit which also featured a number of other interesting presentations on how ICTs are supporting progressive social change and humanitarian aid. The Summit was presented in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, a public charity that advocates for the UN and provides a platform for connecting people, ideas and resources to help the UN solve global problems.

Back in January, a massive earthquake shook Haiti, leaving destruction and confusion in its wake. Today in the UN Week Digital Media Lounge (presented by the UN, 92Y and Mashable) , a group of innovation experts took to the stage to discuss how tech functioned in the realm of disaster relief following the tragedy. Adele Waugaman, senior director of the UN Foundation & Vodafone Foundation Technology Partnerships; Patrick Meier, director of crisis mapping and strategic partnerships at Ushahidi; Oliver Lacey-Hall, then the deputy chief of the Communications & Information Services Branch at UN OCHA; Nigel Snoad of Microsoft and theICT4Peace Foundation; Noel Dickover of the State Department and Crisis Commons, spoke about how their respective organizations helped to do everything from create a live crisis map of the country to employ mobile technology to get information back to those in need.
