Regina Surber, Advisor ICT4Peace Foundation will present on 13 November at ETH Zurich the ICT4Peace’s and the Zurich Hub for Science and Technology’s (ZHET) current research on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS), a special application case of Artificial Intelligence, whose use for humanity is highly debated: The focus of the lecture will lie on the main challenges of the discussion of LAWS in the framework of the United Nations (Meeting of Group of Governmental Experts on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (GGE on LAWS), Palais des Nations, Geneva, 13 – 17 November 2017) as well as the missing key aspects of Autonomous cyber weapons and Autonomous Weapons during law enforcement.

The ZHET has been launched in October 2016 and shall provide a space for knowledge-generating discussions that bring together experts in machine learning technology and robotics, ethicists and experts of international humanitarian and human rights law, as well as representatives of the public and private sector.
