Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, ITU Secretary General graciously received Anne-Marie Buzatu, Executive Director and Daniel Stauffacher of ICT4peace for a most fruitful and informative meeting.
Among other important topics, we discussed how the upcoming UN Global Digital Compact (GDC) (for more information see here) and the cyber dimension of the UN Summit for the Future (for more information see here) could feed into the other UN processes leading to UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) plus 20 Summit and IGF Summit in 2025 (for more information see here).
ICT4Peace expressed its concern, that through the proposed GDC process targeting 2030 a duplicating process to the UN WSIS/SDG implementation processes could be created.
The WSIS in Geneva in 2003 and in Tunis 2005 with their Declarations and Plan of Action, Agenda and Commitments were held at level of Heads of States and Governments with a broad participation of the private sector, civil society organisations and academia.
